Directors
Ed Clowers
Ed Clowers, Director of Bands, holds a Bachelors Degree from Florida State University and a Masters Degree in Music Education from the University of Central Florida. He began his career as a high school band director in Tallahassee, FL. Since 1984, he has taught elementary music and directed a superior rated band program in Port Orange, FL. His bands have competed at Universal Studios Orlando in various National competitions. Each year, his bands have earned superior ratings. In 2008 and 2010, they earned the distinct honor of Grand National Champions! In 2011, the Advanced Band and Jazz Band won the title of Grand Champions at the OrlandoFest Music Competition. Mr. Clowers instills in his students, a passion for learning music and a fulfillment of group success.

Brent Clowers is a musician, composer, scholar, and educator. He has performed throughout the Southeastern United States as a saxophonist, guitarist, and singer. In 2012, Brent traveled overseas to Ireland, earning a Masters degree in Music Technology from the University of Limerick after obtaining his undergraduate degree in Commercial Music from Florida State University. In addition to performing and pursuing further education, he has also developed a successful K-8 music program in Volusia County, Fl.

Kevin Leuzinger
Kevin Leuzinger has been playing, reading and writing music for most of his life. At 7 years old he picked up trumpet, learning from our very own Ed Clowers, while playing alongside Brent Clowers in the Spruce Creek Elementary Band. He’s traveled all around the southeastern United States playing music, and abroad in London, England with the Spruce Creek High School Band in 2004. He graduated from Daytona State College in 2020 where he studied, practiced and performed music amongst some of the areas best educators, earning awards for outstanding musical performances on guitar and gaining invaluable insight in music education. He is caring, passionate and loves teaching kids at Port Orange Music Academy!
The mission of the Port Orange Music Academy is to provide a quality music education to all students by focusing on the individual performer. Through our performing ensembles, students will learn a feeling of belonging, team work, time management, dedication, self esteem, leadership, cooperation and responsibility.
