Two ways to write music — and how to read both ·

  1. Place fingers 1-2-3-4 on frets 1-2-3-4 of string 1, one at a time.
  2. Press, sound each note, lift. Slow is fine — this is a gym for your hand.
  3. Shake out your hand, then do one more pass.

✋How TAB Works5 min

  1. Six TAB lines = six strings; the top line is your thinnest string.
  2. A number is the fret to press — 0 means open.
  3. The notation staff above shows pitch and rhythm; the two views always agree.
  4. Use the TAB button on any exercise to switch views.

  1. Count the rhythm out loud before you play.
  2. Turn on Counts or the metronome and lock in with it.
  3. Loop it slowly first; speed comes on its own.

COMMON MISTAKES & FIXES

  • Rushing ahead of the beat. → Fix: Turn the metronome on and drop the tempo until it feels easy.
  • Buzzing or muted notes. → Fix: Press just behind the fret with the fingertip, thumb relaxed behind the neck.

IF STRUGGLING

  • Drop the tempo well below comfortable and loop one bar.
  • Play just the chord changes (or just the rhythm) before combining.
