Ed Clowers
Director of Bands
- 40+ years teaching in Port Orange
- 2× Grand National Champion band director
- Master's in Music Education, UCF
Ed Clowers holds a Bachelor's degree from Florida State University and a Master's in Music Education from the University of Central Florida. Since 1984 he has taught elementary music and directed a superior-rated band program in Port Orange. His bands earned Grand National Champion honors in 2008 and 2010, and Grand Champions at OrlandoFest in 2011. Mr. Clowers instills in his students a passion for learning music and the fulfillment of group success.

Brent Clowers
Director

Brent Clowers is a musician, composer, scholar, and educator. He has performed throughout the Southeastern United States as a saxophonist, guitarist, and singer. He earned a Master's degree in Music Technology from the University of Limerick, Ireland, after completing his undergraduate degree in Commercial Music at Florida State University, and has developed a successful K-8 music program in Volusia County.

Kevin Leuzinger

Kevin Leuzinger has been playing, reading, and writing music most of his life. He picked up trumpet at age 7 — learning from Ed Clowers while playing alongside Brent in the Spruce Creek Elementary Band — and later performed abroad in London with the Spruce Creek High School Band. He graduated from Daytona State College in 2020, earning awards for outstanding performances on guitar. He is caring, passionate, and loves teaching kids at POMA.
Our mission
The mission of the Port Orange Music Academy is to provide a quality music education to all students by focusing on the individual performer. Through our performing ensembles, students learn belonging, teamwork, time management, dedication, self-esteem, leadership, cooperation, and responsibility.
